FETHIYE CITY & ITS UNIQUE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

FETHIYE CITY
This popular resort is about 240 Km. southwest of Antalya, 135 Km southeast of Marmaris The nearest airport is the Dalaman International airport about 55 km. away (a 35 - 40 min. drive). In recent years,Fethiye has become a prime destination and is popular with both locals and people from other European countries including, among many others, people from the UK, Germany & Holland.
Fethiye boasts an important marina at the head of a beautiful bay strewn with islands. A hill crowned by the ruins of the crusader fortress built by the Knights of Rhodes overlooks the little port. Above the town, (which was called Telmessos in antiquity); the 4th century B.C. monuments from the Lycian period within Fethiye draw many visitors. These are tombs excavated into natural rock, which became the symbol of the city. Swimmers head for the popular Calis Beach, 4 kilometers west of Fethiye, or to Shovalye island which blazes with flowers in the spring, opposite the harbor, Explore the bay and the beautiful Blue Lagoon (Oludeniz) where the calm, crystal clear water is ideal for swimming and other water sports.


THE OLUDENIZ TRIANGLE
(Ovacik, Hisaronu & Oludeniz)
The resort used to be 3 separate villages, Ovacik, Hisaronu & Belcekiz. It covers an extensive & varied terrain, separated by hills and woods, thus catering for all tastes.

OVACIK VILLAGE: Ovacik Resort is located 4 km. from Oludeniz on the way to Fethiye. Located at the food of Babadag. It is a delightful holiday center, where we can feel the refreshing offshore breeze even during the hot summer days. Its hotels & holiday resorts are caressed by these cool sea-breezes & command fine mountain & forest views.


HiSARONU VILLAGE: Hisaronu Resort is next to Ovacik Resort in the same area. It has a centrally orientated main-street area, where colorful boutiques, busy restaurants & bars are among the best in Turkey. These and the other activities provide a very colorful life for tourists. Easy transportation to Fethiye and Oludeniz from Hisaronu & Ovacik is provided by dolmush, which takes 5 min. to Oludeniz and 20 min. to Fethiye centre.


OLUDENİZ – BELCEKIZ: Oludeniz Lagoon and Belcekiz Beach are known as "Blue Paradise" in the world. The long beach at Belcekiz leads to the lagoon of Oludeniz. Colorful holiday complexes with lush gardens, campsites and hotels provide a large capacity of accommodation for tourist; "World Heritage" Babadag hugs the area with its floral richness. After half an hour driving to the summit of Babadag, you can have an opportunity to fly single or tandem, do paragliding and land softly on Belcekiz Beach. Babadag and Belcekiz is a centre for paragliding. The Blue Lagoon (Oludeniz): with its calm & crystal clear water is ideal for swimming snorkeling and other water sports. The Blue Lagoon is located next to Belcekiz Beach and protected as one of the natural parks of Turkey.


THE CALIS (Chalish) AREA
Calis is a traditional style seaside town with a promenade closed to traffic & dotted with shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and hotels. Calis is famed for its beautiful sunsets, which are best viewed from the beach. The beach itself is a pebbly one, but beach beds and umbrellas are available for hire.To lie down on this beach with it’s cool breeze watching the spectacular mountain and sea views is a delight. Calis is ideal for all year living, being only a short dolmus (minibus) ride from Fethiye city center. In winter, a walk along the beach, followed by an evening in one of the friendly local bars or restaurants is a treat. Every Sunday a market is held at Calis selling all sorts of fresh vegetables, fruits,different kinds of cheeses & yogurts. Also clothing & all sorts of other goods.
